I must admit to a certain amount of ignorance (OK, complete ignorance) as to the purpose of the introduction. I'm sure many other errors await me. I hope "gaffe" is one of the prompts. I'll kill that one.

At least you've got a good sense of humour! The typical purpose of an introduction is to introduce yourself - tell the audience a little bit about who you are or who you want to be, that sort of thing.

Read some of the other intros out there, and you'll get the idea. "Live and learn" is one of my most-used mottos! :)
